Introduction

A national, specialized healthcare provider was struggling with a legacy NetIQ solution that had become increasingly difficult to maintain and lacked the modern integration and scalability capabilities the organization required. As a result, clinicians and staff faced delays and access issues that directly impacted productivity and patient outcomes.

At the same time, like all healthcare providers, the organization faces stringent compliance requirements, making a modern identity solution essential to keeping the organization secure and compliant.

Solution

After extensive evaluation and demonstrations, the organization selected Microsoft Entra ID Governance, enabled by MajorKey's HorizonID, as their modern IAM platform.

MajorKey led a phased IAM modernization for the organization to replace NetIQ with Microsoft Entra ID Governance for the organization. HorizonID served as the foundation for identity data movement, lifecycle automation, and complex governance, and enabled modern legacy business logic, including rehire and reserved identity scenarios across multiple sources.

The solution includes:

  • Assessment & Architecture Design: MajorKey evaluated the NetIQ solution and designed a modern identity solution with Microsoft Entra ID Governance and HorizonID, ensuring use case parity
  • Migration & Deployment: Transitioned users and apps from NetIQ to Entra ID Governance for a secure, scalable platform integrated with the organization's HR platforms
  • POC & Pilot: Validated the solution design with a pilot group of frontline workers to ensure usability and performance
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer: Provided training and documentation to the organization's IT staff to ensure long-term solution sustainability

Results

The organization now has a resilient, scalable identity platform that eliminates the extensive downtime that previously impacted productivity and patient care. With Microsoft Entra and HorizonID, frontline clinicians now have seamless and secure access to essential systems, along with stronger compliance through modern authentication, monitoring, and reporting capabilities.

With HorizonID and Microsoft Entra, the healthcare organization also gained:
